Externship

Oklahoma City Medical Assistant School’s 80-hour externship program provides our students with the real-world experience necessary to become confident, qualified Medical Assistants. The externship portion of our course allows our students the opportunity to work under the direct guidance of experienced medical professionals in a local medical office. Although we encourage our students to find their own externships, our Student Success Specialists are here to help our students identify potential opportunities in the area and assist with applications.

Licensure and Certification

Oklahoma City Medical Assistant School is licensed and regulated by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. The Medical Assistant Program prepares students for National Commission for Certifying Agencies, or NCCA- accredited certification through the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Upon passing the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam, students receive their CCMA certificate. Graduating students also receive a certificate of completion showing they went through our training program and their BLS (CPR) card.

He believed that students not only deserve a great education, but also an affordable and convenient option. Rather than opting to make our school more expensive in order to allow for financial assistance, Dr. Ince chose to implement affordable tuition prices; providing our students with the opportunity to graduate with little to no student loan debt. If none of our payment plan options work for you, please give us a call. We are more than happy to customize a plan!

The time it takes to become a Medical Assistant varies between schools and certification programs. Our curriculum is 18-weeks long and fully prepares students to start working as a medical assistant.

The Oklahoma City Medical Assistant School is a 'hands-on learning program.' We take a different approach from traditional education. Our classes take place in a medical office rather than a classroom. There is a hands-on component to every part of our course. Our classes begin with a lecture/class discussion, but the majority of the class time is spent in labs learning the essential techniques of Medical Assisting. When our students graduate and begin their career, they are at home in a medical office.

As a newly hired Medical Assistant, your employer will have an expectation that you will know the basic skills of Medical Assisting. It's those fundamental skills that we focus on teaching our students. Our custom designed curriculum sets students up for success in knowing exactly what doctors will expect them to know.

When you graduate from any medical assisting school you receive a certificate of completion. Many students ask if they can expect to make a higher starting salary if they attend a longer program. The starting salary for a Medical Assistant does not have anything to do with how long you spent in school or how much you paid for your schooling.

Medical assistants may perform many different clinical duties including taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, etc. Administrative tasks are as equally important in the medical assisting field and medical assistants are also in charge of scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, working with insurance files, and billing.
